What better way to deal with long dark winter nights
than by immersing oneself in the work of this Japanse master,
who deals with electronic sound sources in a challenging and
radical way. Fresh textures and surprising counterpoints: the
discolated dub reggae of "Kitchen Window"
is like a snapshot put through a Photoshop plug-in; obliquely
distored from its original. This is a brave, abstract jazzuality
which shows up a lot of modern dance music as the clumsy
drug-driven knee-jerk dross that it surely is.
